Autumn is such spectacular and beautiful time of the year - the leaves start turning orange, yellow and crimson and make a blanket of colour on the ground. It is the perfect backdrop for a photography shoot. Please contact me if you wish to book your autumn session in advance. As a suggestion, Mount Lofty is a fantastic place for those beautiful autumn shots!
Every photographer is different in their package options. My packages include a DVD of your selected images in high resolution, so that you have the flexibility to print, share and use the photos as you wish. I find this is becoming a very popular option.
One important point to note when you take your photos in for printing is that depending on the size of the prints you are ordering, they may have some cropping done to them. An SLR generally captures images in a 3:2 ratio. A 4 x 6 photo is the same ratio and therefore, no cropping occurs when you order your prints. The ratios vary depending on the sizes chosen - here are some popular sizes; 5 x 7 = 7:5 8 x 10 = 5:4 6 x 8 = 4:3 8 x 12 = 3:2 Where the ratio is not 3:2, some cropping will occur. It is important to review each image on the screen prior to ordering your prints to ensure the cropping occurs in the best possible spot for the photo. The photo can be repositioned to make it fit as best as possible for the selected size. This morning I received a message from a client with a photo of the calendars she had printed with the photos from her newborn shoot (picture below). They look amazing and it was a wonderful gift idea for the grandparents. Other ideas of how you can use your selected images; - Your computer wallpaper or screensaver - Sharing on social media - Making an album or photo book - Calendars - Canvas - Emailing to family and friends - Thank you cards If you would like for me to arrange any prints for you, I would be happy to do so, so please contact me to discuss pricing. I met this lovely family yesterday and they braved the 39 degree summer heat to come out and do their photo shoot in the late afternoon. Fortunately the sun was coming down and there was plenty of shade - the photos turned out amazing and they were an absolute pleasure to work with.
As you will see under the Pricing tab, my packages include an online gallery of the best images from which you can select which 10 you would like included in the package price (in high resolution on a DVD). Additional images can be purchased for an additional cost. I have had enquiries lately from people asking if I can package and provide all of the photos from the session on a disc. As a guide, following each photo shoot, I choose the 15-20 best images to edit and post them in an online gallery for viewing and selection. I take a lot of photos during each shoot and so many of the photos (usually 100+) are repetitive. I try and choose the best images to edit, keeping in mind variety and quality. Editing those selected images generally takes between 3 and 6 hours depending on a number of factors.
Some photographers offer 50+ images on a disc for a similar cost. It would not be feasible from a time perspective to edit 50+ images (approx. 10-15 hours of editing) for the same package price and generally with those all-inclusive packages the images have not had any editing done, or only very basic editing. Many of the photos may be repetitive or not of the best standard. If you would like an all-inclusive package, I can offer it so feel free to ask and I will see what I can offer depending on your needs. However, generally my preference is quality over quantity. I would prefer to provide you with 10 high quality fully edited images, than provide you with 50+ unedited images. Below is an example of a photo both pre and post editing to give you an idea of the difference. Both have been compressed for the blog, so both are much sharper in high resolution, but this gives you an idea. The one on the left has had no editing and is the JPEG straight from the camera, the one on the right has been edited from Raw. I have edited the colours, sharpness, noise, shadows, contrast, removed snots, hairs off the face, lollipop stains on her cheeks and brightened it up a bit, Other factors that add to the cost of a reputable professional photographer besides the time spent editing, include cost of professional photographic equipment, props, insurance, marketing costs (such as website, flyers etc), time spent taking phone calls, replying to emails and time spent marketing. Most people have a point and shoot camera and can take some nice family pictures, so when you go to a professional photographer, you want your pictures to have that professional quality about them. Questions you might consider asking a prospective photographer include;
